We are thinking that there's not too much to report really. We are simply chilling out on this tiny island in the middle of the pacific with nothing to do but read books, cool off in the plunge pool, eat and drink. And write this blog.
Anyway, first up - here's an interesting note we we send by the British High Commission in Fiji:
All fine, except that by the time we had received it cyclone PAM had moved on!
Mind you, the effects are still being felt - high tides and strong currents around the island have put pay to any snorkling for a couple of days.
While we are at it, here's a photo of one of the beaches on the island. This one is the one we have access to on our side of the island:
and here's Gill on the same beach:
Last night some of the guys who work on the island stayed on for a sing song and to drink some kava - not fizzy spanish wine (same pronunciation) but a kind of muddy drink made from the roots of a kava tree. So of course Mik had to join in - wisely not touching the kava but playing along with the band. The guy on the left is playing Mik's new little guitar or guitarlele which he bought in New Zealand (see day 12).
Anyway, a great night with some really good Fijian music and singing.
More of this tomorrow:

Glad to see you got there safely and avoided (largely) the Punishment of Pam.
ReplyDeleteChilling out, wisely, after your travels of the previous month but no doubt recharging your batteries for the next stint. It's one of those grey-out sky, damp, cold, late winter mornings here - should't think you're missing it. Keep on trucking dudes.
